WRIGLEYVILLE — It's a match made in doggie heaven.

A dachshund-loving Chicago woman is desperately hoping to find a Cubs-loving dog she saw earlier this year in Lakeview before time runs out.

Now, as she prepares to move away from Chicago, 27-year-old Becca James is hoping to meet the pup and get a photo together before she leaves — and she posted an ad on Craigslist Thursday hoping to find the dachshund of her dreams.

"A dachshund lover to the core, I spent most of my childhood daydreaming about meeting a dog like you," James writes in the Chicago listing. "You're still here. The one that (even though I don't know you) is still the most beautiful dog I've ever seen close up."

James goes on to write lovingly of the dog, "with your Cubs hat and the immense sense of fraternity and loyalty that you have for your team," and begs it (and its owner) to meet up before she leaves the city Oct. 15.

"Seventeen days may seem like a short time, but trust me, when you've been waiting 27 years, it's usually the last couple weeks that kill you," James wrote.

James said Thursday afternoon that while she doesn't have her own dachshund, she has loved them for years and hopes to one day have one named Relish. She does, however, own a hedgehog named Uff Da.

After living in Chicago on-and-off for six years, James, editorial coordinator for the A.V. Club, is heading for Philadelphia.

She said she hasn't gotten any closer to meeting the adorable dachshund, but some people told her they have seen it near the new Mariano's on North Broadway. James first spotted the pooch at Halsted and Clark.

The Craigslist ad begins with a familiar line for fans of Drew Barrymore's "Never Been Kissed" rom-com: "Someone once told me that to write well, you have to write what you know."

The rest is a play on the fictional Josie Geller's column for the Chicago Sun-Times, in which she declares her love for English teacher Sam Coulson after posing as a high school student for an assignment.

Josie, played by Barrymore, invites Sam to meet her at a baseball game and give her her first kiss on the pitcher's mound.

James just wants a selfie.

"It would be magical if I could live the rest of (my life) with a picture of you and me in tow," she declares in the ad. "Because inside, everyone is a dachshund lover, and out there is the one wiener dog that can make it all better."
