LINCOLN SQUARE — Nothing says fall like a day of apple picking.

And by "apple picking," we mean picking up a bushel of fruit while chowing on apple pie, apple sausage and apple fries — all washed down with apple cider — at Lincoln Square's annual Apple Fest, now expanded to two days.

The event will sprawl even further along Lincoln Avenue, all the way from Lawrence to Eastwood, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Luella's Southern Kitchen, The Northman, Amy's Candy Bar, Flirty Cupcakes, Artango Bar & Steakhouse and Taco In A Bag are among the local businesses serving up eats and drinks at the fest.

Kids activities include magic acts, story time, family yoga and sing-alongs.

New this year: chef demonstrations in Giddings Plaza. Learn how to make apple pie like the pros at the Chopping Block and more.

Entertainment includes live music, tango demonstrations and the annual Pooch Costume Contest & Parade, which kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Admission is a suggested $5 donation.

Street closures will begin at 3 a.m. Saturday and will reopen at 11 p.m. Sunday. Affected streets include Lincoln Avenue (4630-4800 North) and Leland Avenue (2272-2365 West). Both City of Chicago parking lots off of Leland Avenue will be open.

Visit the Apple Fest website for the complete list of vendors and entertainment schedule.
