String of Five Burglaries in Hyde Park Prompts Police Alert

HYDE PARK — Police are warning people to make sure their doors and windows are locked after a string of burglaries in west Hyde Park.

Police said Friday that five homes have been burglarized between Sept. 17 and Wednesday.

In all cases, someone went into the apartment or home and took things. There were no reported injuries or confrontations between the resident and the burglar in any of the cases, according to police.

The burglaries occurred:

• About4 a.m. Sept. 17 in the 5300 block of South Drexel Avenue

• Between 11:15 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 19 in the 5400 block of South Drexel Avenue

• Between 9 a.m. Sept. 21 and 7 a.m. Sept. 22 in the 900 block of East 54th Street

• Between 11:45 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday in the 5400 block of South University Avenue

• Between 7:15 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 5300 block of South Ellis Avenue 

Police are asking anyone with information about the burglaries to detectives at 312-747-8380.
