WOODLAWN — After more than a year of talking about other peoples’ books, Bill Ayers is talking about his own new book on Friday.

Ayers is celebrating the launch of “Demand the Impossible!: A Radical Manifesto” at 6 p.m. Friday at Experimental Station, 6100 S. Blackstone Ave.

After more than a year of hosting “Fresh Ayers” series of talks with authors about politics, social issues and protest at 57th Street Books, Ayers is ready to put his own politics center stage.

The retired University of Illinois at Chicago professor’s new book describes his views that the systems that support society have rotted, and he criticizes our propensity for wars, mass incarceration and environmental destruction. Ayers’ book searches for avenues for change to create a world that in his mind is more balanced.

The event is free and open to the public.

Ayers’ previous books include two memoirs, “Fugitive Days” and “Public Enemy.”
