UPTOWN AND ANDERSONVILLE — From book signings to college football, there's plenty of fun activities to enjoy in the neighborhoods.

Here's our list of six things to do in Uptown and Andersonville this weekend:

Book Reading and Signing: Women and Children First bookstore will host a reading and signing of Julie Tarney's book My Son Wears Heels: One Mom's Journey From Clueless to Kick*** Friday. The book dives into Tarney's unexpected parenting path, which began in 1992 when her 2-year-old son told her "In my head, I'm a girl." Tarney, a long-time Milwaukee resident, now living in New York, blogs for Huffington Post's Queer Voices and is a board member for the It Gets Better project. Friday. 7:30 p.m. 5233 N. Clark St.

Burlesque at Uptown Underground: Kiss Kiss Cabaret and friends will take the stage at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. General admission tickets are $25 and premium reserved tickets are $40. 10 p.m. 4713 N. Broadway.

College Football at Crew: Big Ten action kicks off this weekend and Crew Bar and Grill has 24 HD TVs to watch the action on. Games with sound include: Wisconsin Badgers vs. Michigan State Spartans at 11 a.m., Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Michigan Wolverines at 2:30 p.m. and Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Northwestern Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. The restaurant serves brunch from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. featuring its tailgate special — a Miller Lite pitcher, choice of wings and nachos or overloaded fries for $20. Saturday. Crew Bar and Grill, 4804 N. Broadway.

Peace Walk Through Uptown: Activists will host a peace walk Saturday afternoon. Participants should meet at Everybody's Coffee at noon. 935. W. Wilson Ave. Saturday. 12 p.m.

Enjoy Some Close-Up Magic: Saturday, Uptown Underground will host the Chicago Magic Lounge, which takes attendees back to the days of old school magic bars. The Magic Lounge includes: close-up magic, bar magic, table hopping musicians and main stage acts. Tickets begin at $25. Saturday. 7:30 p.m. 4707 N. Broadway.

Sunday Salon at Women and Children First Bookstore: This weekend, the Andersonville bookstore will host its first Sunday Salon focusing on women and aging. The event is hosted by Lynn Mooney and Connie Kiosse and will explore what it means to age in a youth-driven society and the challenges and rewards of getting older. The hosts suggest reading Joan Chittister's The Gift of Years before the event. The event is a potluck and attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share. Sunday. 12-2 p.m. 5233 N. Clark St.
