WASHINGTON PARK — Two men were shot, one fatally, in what police are describing as a possible robbery in the Washington Park neighborhood Thursday morning, police said.

The men were shot at 4:57 a.m. in the 5500 block of South Perry Avenue, according to a police incident report.

One man, 48, was pronounced dead on scene after being shot in his mouth, police said.

He has been identified as Anthony Thorpe, of the 500 block of West 14th Place, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The other man, 35, was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition with gunshot wounds in his back and shoulder, police said.

No one was in custody, police said.

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.
