White Sox Congratulate Cubs For Clinching Division With Billboard Message

By Ed Komenda | September 21, 2016 3:31pm

CHICAGO — The Chicago White Sox have a message for the Chicago Cubs:

CONGRATS, CUBS

The Sox this week congratulated the Cubs after the North Siders clinched the National League Central title. After St. Louis lost 6-2 at San Francisco on Sept. 15, the Cubs clinched the division for the first time since 2008.

You'll now find a note running on Sox video billboard just off the Dan Ryan Expy. near U.S. Cellular Field. The congratulations includes the Cubs' logo and calls them "NL CENTRAL CHAMPS."

Last year, the Sox congratulated the Cubs on winning the National League Division Series against the Cardinals and their trip to the National League Championship Series against the Mets.

After the Sox won the 2005 World Series, the Cubs took out a full-page ad in the Tribune offering their congrats.

The Cubs and Wrigley Field are 95 percent owned by a trust established for the benefit of the family of Joe Ricketts, owner and CEO of DNAinfo.com. Joe Ricketts has no direct involvement in the management of the iconic team.
