HYDE PARK — Prepare for street closures on Sunday while 10,000 huff and puff through the neighborhood for the Chicago Half Marathon.
The 13.1-mile race starts at 7 a.m. Sunday in Jackson Park and loops up Lake Shore Drive and back again to end back in the park at the Statue of the Republic.
Roads around the neighborhood will close early to set up for the race.
Northbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive will be closed from 6:30-9:30 a.m. from 67th Street to 31st Street. Southbound lanes in the same area will be closed longer, from 6:30-11 a.m.
Streets in and around Jackson Park, particularly Stony Island Avenue and 67th Street east of Jeffery Boulevard, will also be closed from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The race is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and has become an annual tradition in Hyde Park in the fall.
It also includes a 5K starting at 7:45 a.m.
