HYDE PARK — After a man on a bike tried to rob a University of Chicago student at gunpoint early Tuesday morning, university police are warning Hyde Parkers not to resist an armed robbery.

U. of C. police issued an alert Tuesday after a student was approached by a man riding a bike who pulled out a handgun and demanded the student’s cellphone at 1:40 a.m. on 58th Street near Dorchester Avenue.

The student refused to hand over his phone, and the man rode away, heading south on Dorchester, police said.
