COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — The man who robbed Mayor Rahm Emanuel's son in 2014 was convicted of two unrelated crimes last week, court records show.
Phillip Payne, 19, pleaded guilty Thursday to possession of a stolen motor vehicle and manufacturing and delivering cocaine.
Cook County Judge Shelley Sutker-Dermer sentenced Payne to seven years in prison — three years for the car case and four for the cocaine. The sentences are to be served consecutively, court records show, for a total of seven years.
Records also indicate that Payne is eligible for a prison bootcamp program.
Judge Sutker-Dermer credited Payne with serving roughly a year and three months in Cook County Jail while awaiting trial. He will be responsible for $1,589 in court fees.
Payne first made headlines in 2014 when he mugged Emanuel's son near the family's Ravenswood home. Payne, who was 17 at the time, pleaded guilty as a juvenile in early 2015 and was sentenced to three years of probation and 50 hours of community service, the Sun-Times reported.
Payne was arrested for the car and cocaine cases during that probation.
