DUNNING — A 48-year-old man was shot in the face while driving south on Harlem Avenue near Addison Street early Friday morning, police said.

At 4:20 a.m., a car pulled along side the victim's car in the 3600 block of North Harlem Avenue and someone inside shot the man in the face, said Chicago Police Officer Laura Amezaga, a spokeswoman for the department.

The man was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in critical condition, Amezaga said.

It is unclear whether the shooting was gang-related, Amezaga said.

The investigation is ongoing, Amezaga said.
