NORTH CENTER — Leave it to Texans to take a pastime associated with blue-haired grandmas and church socials and turn it into a raucous bar contest involving livestock.

We're talking about Chicken $#!T Bingo, a game not so much of luck, but cluck. Yes, it's pretty much what it sounds like — bingo, played with chickens, with the birds "calling out" numbers by pooping on them.

This poultry-fied version has become something of a tourist attraction at the Little Longhorn Saloon in Austin, Texas, and on Sunday it's coming to Chicago.

Honky-tonk musician Dale Watson, who owns the Little Longhorn, is bringing his band and the whole Chicken $#!T show to Martyrs' at 3855 N. Lincoln Ave. The event is set for 3-6 p.m. Sunday as a grand finale to the weekend's Windy City Coop Tour, which celebrates Chicago's backyard chicken enthusiasts.

Coop tour participant Suzanne Plunkett has volunteered her hen, Clara Cluck, to do the honors as bingo "caller."

Tickets to "Dale Watson & His Lonestars present ... Chicken $#!T Bingo Sunday" are $20 and can be bought in advance online.

The free, self-guided coop tour runs 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Twenty coops are open to the public, many of them demonstrating not only poultry-keeping but composting, vegetable gardening and other sustainable practices.
