HYDE PARK — Openlands is giving tours of Jackson Park on Sunday using the same vehicles as the continent’s early explorers, giant voyageur canoes.

The tours of Jackson Park’s harbor and Lake Michigan will feature the giant canoes used by explorers like Lewis and Clark to navigate the nation’s rivers from 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

No experience is necessary and expert paddlers will be on hand to guide the boats.

The event is free and open to the public.

The tour leaves from the parking area on the east side of the harbor, just south of Hayes Drive.
