LINCOLN SQUARE — Sulzer Regional Library will be closed for repairs Oct. 16 through Nov. 5, but if you think that means you're exempt from returning books on time, think again.

Book drops outside the library, 4455 N. Lincoln Ave., will be open during construction. Renewals can be made online or at any other library branch.

Patrons placing a "hold" on material should change the pickup location to a neighboring library. Any holds scheduled for pickup at Sulzer while it's closed will be waiting for patrons when the library reopens.

Sulzer was built in 1985 as a replacement for the former Hild Regional Library, which now houses the Old Town School of Folk Music. Sulzer was designed by Hammond Beeby and Babka, the same architecture firm responsible for the Harold Washington Library.

Repairs include a new roof — leaks have caused water damage over the years — new skylight, and upgrades to the library's elevator and other mechanical systems.

The work is being paid for with Tax Increment Finance dollars.
