LINCOLN PARK — For the first time in at least six years, there will be live music at Oz Park next weekend.

Local band The Smoking Fish, which has been playing together since 1989, is set to perform Sept. 9 at the park, 2021 N. Burling St., beginning at 6:30 p.m.

But be sure to come early because a group of Lincoln Elementary seventh-graders in a band dubbed The World's Okayest Band are scheduled to play several cover songs before The Smoking Fish take the stage.

George Atkinson, a member of The Smoking Fish, said it's been at least six years since Oz Park has hosted any live music performances, but couldn't explain the gap.

The Oz Park Advisory Council is sponsoring the concert, which is underwritten by @properties.

The council encourages folks to bring picnic baskets, chairs and blankets to enjoy the show.
