BRIDGEPORT — First Lutheran Church of the Trinity is looking for backpacks to send church kids back to school on the right foot.

Serving hundreds of men, women and children in Bridgeport, the church at 643 W. 31st St. plans to give away 48 backpacks filled with basic school supplies on Sept. 4 after the 10:30 a.m. church service.

To help fund the project, visit the church's GoFundMe page.

The church hopes to raise $1,000 to fill the backpacks with pencils, pencil-top erasers, colored pencils, markers, school supply boxes, pocket folders, wide-ruled notebooks, rulers, scissors, glue sticks and spiral notebooks.

You can also donate those items to the church by Sept. 1.
