WEST RIDGE — It's been three years since Ivan Resendiz and his wife took over at Vince's Pizza & Taqueria in West Ridge, and on Sunday they're giving back to their customers the best way they know how: free burgers.

VPT will give free burgers to the first 100 customers from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at its 5754 N. Western Ave. location. Don't worry if you show up late: after hitting 100, they'll only be charging $2.99 per burger.

The event will also feature live music, face painting and balloon twisting for kids.

The burger joint has become well-known around the city in recent months with the rise of its popular Blackhawk Burger — a deep-fried culinary feat that stuffs jalapeños and Merkts cheese between two beer-battered, deep-fried patties topped with avocado aioli, lettuce and deep-fried pickles.

More than 30 classic and unique burgers are featured on its large menu, as well as milkshakes and desserts, fries and more.
