Mario Cousins Dies After Being Shot Sunday In East Garfield Park: Officials

CHICAGO — Mario Cousins, 20, died days after being shot in East Garfield Park Sunday morning, according to authorities. 

He was shot at 6:45 a.m. Sunday in the 3600 block of West Lexington Street, police said at the time. Officers found him on a porch with a gunshot wound to his head.

Cousins was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died from his injuries at 6:12 p.m. Monday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Cousins was one of 27 people shot between Saturday and early Sunday, according to police.

No arrests have been made in the case, police said.
