WASHINGTON PARK — A scavenger hunt looking for the historical treasures of Washington Park and other South Side neighborhoods kicks off Saturday.

The Finding Black Joy scavenger hunt starts at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bing Art Books, 307 E. Garfield Blvd.

Teams of up to five are sent out into the neighborhood on foot, bike or public transit — no cars allowed — to find items from a list meant to reveal beautiful and hidden spots in the neighborhood.

The team finding the most items from the list in two hours will win a trophy during a 2 p.m. awards ceremony.

The correct answers and refreshments will be served after the scavenger hunt ends.

Tickets are $6 for an individual, $10 for a pair and $20 for groups of up to five people.

People are encouraged to bring a smart phone or tablet, water, walking shoes and snacks.

To buy tickets, visit the event web site.
