LINCOLN PARK — The team behind Chicago-based Four Corners Tavern Group, which is responsible for establishments like Ranalli's, Fremont and Benchmark, appears to be gearing up to redevelop a building in Lincoln Park. And, if past projects are any indication, it could very likely be a bar/restaurant.

Earlier this month, the city's Department of Buildings issued repair permits for a building at 900 W. Armitage Ave., which used to be home to a Fifth Third Bank and is adjacent to the new La Colombe coffee shop, at 858 W. Armitage Ave.

The owner of the building is listed as 903 W Armitage LLC and its address is listed as 1040 W. Randolph St., which is Four Corners Tavern Group's headquarters. The LLC did not yield any results on the city's tax portal.

A padlock on the door reads, "Four Corners Evan Jones." According to LinkedIn, Jones is a facilities manager for the tavern group.

Crews are replacing the building's windows, receptacles, outlets, light fixtures and concrete steps, according to the permits.

A representative for Four Corners Tavern Group said the building is being redeveloped by someone affiliated with Four Corners, but the project is not an official Four Corners project. She would not disclose any further information Monday afternoon.

"The property is a personal investment of Four Corners ownership," she said in a prepared statement.

The Cook County Recorder of Deeds does not list a recent sale of the building, but the website can take weeks to update.

If a bar is indeed a part of the concept, the project could face objections from neighbors. Back in 2013, a proposal to open a Walgreens location at 834 W. Armitage Ave. was so controversial that Ald. Michele Smith (43rd) imposed a moratorium on liquor sales on the block.

Though Walgreens is close to the Four Corners building, it is not on the same block.
