RAVENSWOOD — A 21-year-old man was considered "stable" after being shot in his head in Ravenswood Sunday morning, police said.

At 12:32 a.m., the man was shot in the back of his head in the 4800 block of North Damen Avenue, according to a police incident report.

The man was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital, police said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

Police could not immediately provide any other information about the shooting.

The shooting appeared to be an "internal gang conflict" set "between known individuals," Ald. Ameya Pawar (47th) told DNAinfo Sunday.

"It appears as if the shooter and the victim were riding in a car together, then one of them got into another vehicle," Pawar said. "But we can't be sure, since everyone's being uncooperative."

"If anyone saw something, they should come forward to the police," he added.

No one is in custody, police said.
