Police Arrest 2 Men After Finding Guns, Drugs In Woodlawn

CHICAGO — Police have arrested two men after finding guns and drugs in Woodlawn.

At 9:08 p.m. Thursday, officers responding to a report of someone selling drugs in the 6200 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue saw Brandon West sitting with a handgun on his hip, according to a Chicago Police news release. They also saw Willie Daniels standing next to a car that smelled of marijuana, police said.

The officers saw a backpack in the front seat with "numerous" bags of marijuana, police said. Daniels said he owned the bag, police said, and officers found a loaded gun inside it.

Daniels, 24, of the 10200 block of South Indiana, was charged with manufacturing/delivering marijuana and possessing a gun, police said.

West, 25, of the 7800 block of South Ingleside, was charged with possessing a loaded gun, police said.

The men were scheduled to appear in court Saturday.
