SAUGANASH — History buffs can stroll back into history as part of an effort to get more people to walk and use public transportation.

Three walks will take place Aug. 28 as part of Good City Group's Last Mile effort to encourage Far Northwest Side residents to reflect on the last mile of their commute in an effort to create a sense of place around transit hubs that would encourage people to ditch their cars and walk or use public transportation.

The first guided walking tour will step off at 11 a.m. from Giddings Street and London Avenue in Jefferson Park.

The second walk will take place at 12:30 p.m. at Forest Glen and Latham avenues in Forest Glen.

The final tour will start at Rogers and Kilbourn avenues in Sauganash and travel along the Indian Boundary Line, which once separated land owned by Native American tribes and the area the Sauk and Fox tribes ceded to the U.S. government.

The walks are free, but online registration is available to reserve a spot.
