OLD TOWN — Plans to replace a row of vintage buildings on Wells Street with modern, high-end apartments and ground-floor retail are moving forward, with the project's architect releasing a rendering.

New York-based developer Jenel Management is planning to build a six-story, mixed-use development at 1435-1445 N. Wells St., which includes the now-shuttered French restaurant Bistrot Margot's building and adjacent buildings.

According to the rendering, apartment balconies would overlook the street.

George Sorich, principal of NORR Architects, couldn't provide a price point for the apartments, and messages to Jenel Management were not returned.

The project is one of several currently in the works in Old Town, including a 13-story hotel on the site of O'Brien's Restaurant & Bar, 1528 N. Wells St.

Real estate blog Curbed was first to report on the rendering.
