HYDE PARK — Target announced Monday it will open on Nov. 2 and will host two job fairs to hire 75 people to staff the new Hyde Park store.

Target announced in March plans for a 21,000-square-foot store in the Vue53 apartment and retail development at 1346 E. 53rd St.

The location will include a pharmacy and will carry beauty products, clothing for men and women, home products, electronics, children and baby items, and some groceries and cleaning products, but is considerably smaller than the 170,000-square-foot stores it has built in the past.

The store will be the fourth Target location in Chicago to use the company’s flexible design that carries fewer items more carefully selected for shoppers in the immediate community.

Target said Monday it will need 75 employees to staff the new store and will hold two job fairs in the next two weeks.

The first job fair will be from 9 a.m-5 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Kenwood Academy High School, 5015 S. Blackstone Ave. The second will be from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 18-19 at Kenwood Academy.

“Chicago is a priority market for Target, and we’re excited to build a talented team as we prepare for the November opening of Target’s flexible-format store in Hyde Park,” Clevitta Scott, Hyde Park store team leader, said in the announcement. “We look forward to opening the doors of our Hyde Park store for the neighborhood this fall, and being part of the community with the addition of nearly 75 new jobs.”

The store is also accepting applications for the Hyde Park location prior to the job fairs online at Target.com/careers.
