UPTOWN — A portion of Argyle Street will officially open to two-way traffic and parking Friday, marking a major milestone in construction, Ald. Harry Osterman (48th) said.

The portion of Argyle Street between Winthrop Avenue and Sheridan Road is complete aside for "some landscaping and finishing touches to come," he said in an email Thursday.

But in an effort to speed up construction, Argyle will be closed to cars from Broadway to the Arygle Street CTA station to allow for paver installation. The closure should last until Aug. 12, he said.

All businesses will remain open "during this ground-breaking shared-street project."

Free parking for customers is also available in the lot at 5026 N. Broadway, he said.
