SOUTH SHORE — A South Shore shooting left a man and woman injured on Friday, police said.

At 9 a.m., a 23-year-old man was in the 6800 block of South Stony Island Avenue when two men approached him and opened fire, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

A 32-year-old woman was walking out of a store and was also wounded, Lemmon said.

The man, who was shot in the leg and back, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, Lemmon said.

The woman, who shot in his shoulder, checked herself into the University of Chicago Hospital, where she was listed in fair condition, Lemmon said.

The two men involved in the shooting fled the scene on bicycles, Lemmon said.

No one is in custody, police said.
