Woodlawn Shooting Kills Roy Bergman, 21, Police Say

CHICAGO — A shooting in Woodlawn left a 21-year-old man dead on Saturday night, police said.

At 7:10 p.m., the man was sitting in a parked car in the 6600 block of South Champlain Avenue when a black SUV pulled alongside him and someone inside fired shots at him, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was hit multiple times and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Alfaro said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

The man was identified as Roy Bergman, of the 12600 block of South Eggleston, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records.

No one was in custody in the shooting.
