RAVENSWOOD — A man had a gun put to his head by a pair of young robbers who then took his car Saturday morning in the 4700 block of North Wolcott Avenue, a quiet residential stretch in Ravenswood near James B. McPherson Elementary School.

The 33-year-old victim posted his harrowing encounter to the social media site Everyblock, describing a violent manhandling at the hands of two teenage boys.

“Saturday morning at around 5:40 I was walking to my car as I do marathon training at the lake. Two boys approached me, put a gun to my head, forced me to the ground, and stole my vehicle, keys, and cell phone,” he wrote.

Police confirmed the report, saying that two gunmen confronted him with a gun drawn and took his belongings before jumping into his 2015 Mazda and speeding away east on Leland Avenue, according to a statement from News Affairs.

The man said his car had been parked at the northeast corner of Leland and Wolcott Avenues, across the street from the elementary school.

“I have reported this to the police, who came in a matter of minutes and were very helpful, but wanted to put it on here as well so this doesn't happen again,” the victim wrote.

No one was in custody for the armed hijacking and the vehicle had not been recovered as of 4 p.m. today, according to the police department.
