'The Wiz' Sing-Along To End Diana Ross Movie Marathon

WASHINGTON PARK — Bing Art Books is kicking off a month-long Diana Ross film series on Aug. 11 that ends with an outdoor sing-along to “The Wiz.”

The series starts at 7 p.m. on Aug. 11 with a screening of “Lady Sings the Blues,” Ross’ 1972 portrait of singer Billie Holiday.

Admission is free and food and drinks are available for purchase.

Jazz musician Maggie Brown will talk about the film afterwards.

The series continues on Aug. 18 with a screening of “Mahogany” and culminates with an outdoor screening of “The Wiz” on Aug. 25.

“The Wiz” screening will be outside at the Muffler Shop, 359 E. Garfield Blvd., and will start later at 8:30 p.m., with food and drinks beforehand at 7 p.m. at the bookstore, 307 E. Garfield Blvd.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their singing voices for “The Wiz” and a chair.
