CHICAGO — Mayor Rahm Emanuel might not be the most popular guy in Chicago, but he still knows how to throw a party.

Emanuel is heading to Philadelphia, where he'll host a private bash that could rival the popular "Midnight Underground" party he threw for President Barack Obama's 2013 inauguration, according to Chicago Magazine.

Wednesday's party will be themed "Chicago Rockin' Blues," according to the Sun-Times, and it's expected to last until 2 a.m. There will be an open bar, and Blues Traveler and the Preservation Hall Jazz band will perform, according to the Sun-Times.

There is a "buzz" about the party, according to Chicago Magazine. Politico reports that Emanuel was emerging from "political exile" with the bash, and a Chicago mag source said people will attend in order to support the struggling mayor.

Also not clear: Will Emanuel be breaking out his famous dance moves at this soiree?

Emanuel's star has fallen amid several controversies in recent months, including the delayed release of a video showing police fatally shooting 17-year-old Laquan McDonald.

State's Attorney Anita Alvarez lost her bid for re-election and former Police Supt. Garry McCarthy was fired by Emanuel amid the turmoil. Activists have repeatedly called for Emanuel to resign.

Emanuel hasn't spoken at the Democratic National Convention, and it was Toni Preckwinkle, the president of the Cook County Board, who got the top spot next to former President Bill Clinton — Emanuel's old boss— at the convention earlier this week.
