CHICAGO — Wicker Park will get a taste of Athens when DOX Quality Greek opens in the fall, next to Flash Taco at the neighborhood's main intersection.

DOX, 1566 N. Damen Ave., will have a menu that's "intended for sharing and will highlight the best of quality Greek street food," according to a DOX news release. That menu will include a "one-of-a-kind" pita developed just for DOX by chef Christos Fasseas and organic, local meat.

Also among the offerings: loukoumades, little Greek doughnuts; grilled haloumi; avocado hummus and spicy roasted red pepper and feta dip, according to DOX.

DOX will be open every day and will have carryout and late-night dining options.

On Wednesday, Fasseas said that if everything goes as planned, DOX Quality Greek will open in early October. Fasseas is partnering with the owners of GRK Greek Kitchen on the new concept, which is short for the Greek word “Doxa,” which means “glory, pride, great.”

Designed by Greek firm, K-Studio, the 1,800-square-foot space will feature wicker stools, wood and burlap-clad ceilings and a Mediterranean blue color scheme.

With space for about 45 patrons who will order at a front counter, the seating will be mostly communal with long wood tables and three Spanish steps, where guests can hangout while waiting for their takeout orders.

Craft beer, Greek wines and handcrafted cocktails will be served, too.

Fasseas recently moved to Chicago from Athens, Greece.

Fasseas said he selected Wicker Park because "it's a very lively neighborhood, very busy on weekends."
