BOWMANVILLE — Half Acre is announcing its presence in Bowmanville in a major way.

Tickets went on sale Wednesday to the brewery's "The Big North" event, which Half Acre has been teasing for weeks. It's the first big bash at the beer company's new Bowmanville home, 2050 W. Balmoral Ave.

Tickets to The Big North, set for 4-9 p.m. on Aug. 20, cost $65 and can be purchased online. Admission includes beer, entertainment (Twin Peaks is headlining a slate of music acts) and one meal voucher.

Guests must be 21 or over.

Half Acre opened its North Center brewery, 4257 N. Lincoln Ave., in 2008. In 2014, owner Gabriel Magliaro announced plans to build a 60,000-square-foot production facility in Bowmanville, where Half Acre could increase capacity from 14,000 barrels of beer per year to 30,000 barrels.

The brewery moved its canning line and other equipment to Bowmanville, freeing up space in North Center for Half Acre to create more experimental beers, including some made with wild yeast.
