LINCOLN PARK — Grab your best dudes and head to Sausage Fest this weekend.

After years of being held in Wrigleyville, Sausage Fest, now in its sixth year, is coming to Lincoln Park for the first time.

The fest will take over the Weed Street district Saturday and Sunday, with the main entrance at Weed Street and Sheffield Avenue.

Organizer Nick Pobutsky moved the fest to Lincoln Park because it was "tough" to make the residents, alderman and police all happy in Wrigleyville, he said.

"I think we've found our home for the next 15 years," he said of Lincoln Park.

One of the highlights of the fest is the "Sausage King of Chicago" contest, which doubles as a fundraiser.

Hopefuls request donations in their name that go toward the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that helps injured service members. Over the last five years, the fest has raised more than $35,000 for the group, according to Pobutsky.

In addition to the contest/fundraiser, there will be more than 25 gourmet sausages to try from local purveyors like Paulina Meat Market and Chicago's Dog House, as well as drinks.

Tribute bands will play hits originated by Tom Petty, Elton John and the like on Saturday, while country acts like Clayton Anderson will bring the twang on Sunday.

Each day the cast of Medieval Times will put on kid-friendly shows, which includes knight training, at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Cast members will announce the next "Sausage King of Chicago" at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Fest organizers are asking for $5 suggested donation. Proceeds benefit the Near North Unity Program.
