KENWOOD — Binny’s Beverage Depot announced Friday it will move its Hyde Park location to Kenwood, more than tripling the size of the store.

Binny’s will open the 11,000 square foot store at 1320 E. 47th St. in early 2017 and will close it’s only Binny’s Express location 1530 E. 53rd St, according to Greg Versch, a spokesman for Binny’s.

“This is a relocation, so along with the existing Hyde Park staff, we'll hire more employees to fill a total staff more than double the current store,” Versch said. “The larger footprint will allow us to triple our selection of wine and craft beer.”

The current Hyde Park Binny’s is 3,500 square feet.

The new location will also add access to the shopping center’s parking lot.

Versch said the current store will remain open until the new location opens, except for possibly a few days as the store moves.

He said he is hopeful the new location will open earlier than 2017 if construction goes smoothly.
