CHICAGO — A shooting in Englewood early Thursday left a 45-year-old gas station clerk dead, police said.

At 12:40 a.m., the man was in the gas station lot in the 6600 block of South State Street when he and a man got into an argument, police said. Shots were fired and the victim was hit in the head.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Marwan Sadeq, of suburban Chicago Ridge.

Sadeq had migrated with his family from Yemen to escape the violence there, according to the Sun-Times.

No one was in custody.
