HYDE PARK — The Hyde Park Community Players are putting on six free performances of William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” in July.

The community theater group will hold two rounds of free outdoor performances of Shakespeare’s last play starting Friday.

At 6:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the play will be performed in the courtyard on Harper Avenue behind Powell’s Books, 1501 E. 57th St.

The play then moves to Nichols Park, 1355 E. 53rd St., for 6:30 p.m. performances on July 22-24.

Laura MacGregor is directing the abridged version of the play and the performance is suitable for children and adults.

Spectators are encouraged to bring a chair or a blanket to sit on.
