15 Shot In Chicago Since Monday Morning, Including Woman In Purse Robbery

CHICAGO — Thirteen men and two women were shot and wounded on the city's South and West Side between Monday morning and Tuesday morning, police said.

Two shootings left three men wounded in Englewood during that time.

• Most recently, around 2:50 a.m., a 25-year-old woman was walking in the 300 block of South Kolmar Avenue in West Garfield Park when two men walked up and demanded her belongings, according to police.

When the women refused to give up her purse, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot her in her stomach, police said.

The woman was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was "stable," police said.

• At 10:50 p.m. Monday night, three men were shot while sitting in a car in University Village.

• Around 10:30 p.m., a 34-year-old man was shot in his leg in the 1200 block of South Kedvale Avenue in North Lawndale, police said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.

• At 9:20 p.m., a 21-year-old man was grazed in his hip in the 5400 block of West Wellington Avenue in Belmont Cragin, police said.

The man brought himself to Community First Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.

• At 8:45 p.m., a 19-year-old woman was driving southbound on Stony Island Avenue near 67th Street when she heard gunshots and felt pain, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The woman drove to University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in her right foot, Lemmon said.

• Around 7:55 p.m., a 35-year-old man was standing in the 900 block of West 50th Street in back of the Yards when someone shot at him from a passing car, Lemmon said.

The man was brought to Stroger Hospital, where he was "stable" with a gunshot wound in his left leg, Lemmon said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At 6:35 p.m., a 23-year-old man was standing in the 10300 block of South Indiana Avenue in Roseland when someone walked up and shot at him, Lemmon said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition with gunshot wounds in his arm and back, police said.

• Around 6 p.m., a 35-year-old man was driving in the 500 block of South Homan Avenue in East Garfield Park when someone pulled up alongside him and shot at him, Lemmon said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was "stable" after being shot in his arm, Lemmon said.

• About 12:30 p.m., a 21-year-old was sitting on a porch in the 4900 block of West Washington Boulevard in Austin when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said.

The man was taken to Loyola Hospital, where he was "stable" with gunshot wounds in his arm and leg.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At 11:17 a.m. Monday morning, a 16-year-old boy was shot in both his legs in the 1500 block of East 74th Place in South Shore, police said.

The boy was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where was "stable," police said.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings, police said.
