GOLD COAST — Another luxury clothing brand is taking over the space left behind by Lanvin in the Gold Coast.

St. John, an American luxury retailer founded in 1962, opened its new, three-story retail boutique at 116 E. Oak St. July 8.

The 6,097 square foot space sits on the same block as other well-known brands such as Prada, Tom Ford, Kate Spade and Tory Burch, and will offer the latest clothing and accessories from the St. John collection including jackets, dresses, gowns, layering essentials and bottoms.

St. John relocated its store at 919 N. Michigan Ave. to the new Gold Coast location, but the company did not comment on why it decided to move.

The new storefront interior features limestone and French parquet wood floors, and a VIP lounge and private fitting area on the third floor full of couture evening wear.

“Each boutique represents the same legacy as our collections, unique American design with an undisputed reputation for luxury and quality,” said the company’s president and CEO Bruce Fetter in an email. “The new location will offer the full breadth of the collection and the St. John experience. Chicago is a key market for St. John and we are excited to welcome customers to our new boutique on Oak Street.”
