NORTH PARK — Motorists should steer clear of Foster Avenue next week, when sewer work in the area will shut down the thoroughfare to traffic between Pulaski and Kimball.

New sewers are being installed on Drake and Carmen avenues, requiring the closure of Foster at Drake from 9 a.m. Monday-4 p.m. Wednesday.

Eastbound traffic on Foster will be detoured at Pulaski Road, westbound on Foster will be rerouted at Kimball Avenue. Local traffic will be allowed eastbound to Central Park and westbound to St. Louis. Foster will be completely blocked to all vehicles between Central Park and St. Louis.

The sewer replacement project on Drake will affect Foster to Carmen; work on Carmen will affect Drake to Central Park.

The existing pipes are more than 100 years old.
