Roseland Shooting Kills Maurice Ross, Wounds 1 Man, Police Say

CHICAGO — A shooting Wednesday night in Roseland left one man dead and another wounded, police said.

At 10:35 p.m., the men were in the 300 block of West 106th Street when they were shot, police said. A 24-year-old man was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was identified as Maurice M. Ross, of the 300 block of West 105th Street, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Ross was pronounced dead at 11:35 p.m., and an autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide. Police originally said Ross was 25 years old.

A 43-year-old man was shot in the neck and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition.

Ross was a documented gang member, police said.

The circumstances of the shooting were unknown, police said.

No one was in the custody.
