3 Police Officers Hurt By Fireworks Since Sunday, Police Say

CHICAGO- Three Chicago Police Officers have been involved in separate incidents involving fireworks since Sunday, police said. 

The most recent incident, at 5:50 a.m. Monday, a police officer was hurt by a "noise maker" in the restroom at the Albany Park District station, 4650 N. Pulaski Road, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman

The officer was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital out of precaution, Lemmon said. 

At 4:20 p.m. Sunday, two officers were in their squad car in the 7400 block of South Exchange Avenue in South Shore when someone in a red Toyota Camry threw fireworks at them, Lemmon said. 

The Tribune reported that the firecracker was described as a “half stick of dynamite that exploded and damaged the squad car.

The officers were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where they were listed in good condition, Lemmon said. 

No one is in custody for the incident, Lemmon said.
