COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — Two people have been charged with stealing packages in Lincoln Square and Albany Park.

According to prosecutors, Joseph Solomon and Monika Prokopiuk were captured on surveillance video using a pry tool to break into North Side lobbies and steal packages.

The first burglary happened May 22 in the 4700 block of North Western Avenue, while the second occurred May 27 in the 4500 block of North Kedzie Avenue.

Solomon, 31, and Prokopiuk, 27, were arrested on a warrant in suburban Bartlett on Wednesday. They are both charged with burglary.

According to court records, Solomon was carrying a Ziploc bag of opioids at the time of the arrest. He is additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas on Thursday ordered Solomon and Prokopiuk held in lieu of $50,000 each.
