UPTOWN — Heather Gautheir will bring Everybody's Coffee into her whimsical world, "which couples frivolity with the exotic," when she opens her art exhibit "Flora on Fauna" Friday.

The exhibit features giraffes in hats, elephants bearing cupcakes and cats wearing flower pots. It is inspired by the decade she spent living in Africa and Chicago, according to a news release for the event.

On Friday, the coffee shop at 935 W. Wilson Ave. will host an opening reception for the exhibit from 6-8 p.m.

Gauthier, who is known "to wear hats that match the flora and hybrids ... much like the animals in her paintings," now lives in Texas. Her work has been featured on PBS's "Arts," HGTV and Home Companion magazine, according to the release.

Attendees are invited to dress in feathers, floral and imaginative finery like the artist.

The exhibit will run until Aug. 12.
