CHICAGO — Chicago's women "broke the Internet" with risqué and funny selfies on Tuesday.
The hashtag #ChicagoGirlsBreakTheInternet started trending as hundreds of women shared photos of themselves smiling, eating pizza, posing for the camera or hanging out with family and friends. The hashtag gained popularity after Donald Trump supporters started sharing selfies with the hashtag #TrumpGirlsBreakTheInternet. "Breaking the Internet" refers to dominating attention online.
Besides posting selfies, people also used #ChicagoGirlsBreakTheInternet — and the less-popular #ChicagoBoysBreakTheInternet — to encourage each other and joke.
