CHICAGO — A bicyclist was struck by a car while riding along the lakefront path near Wilson Avenue, according to officials and a witness

The cyclist was near Wilson Avenue at about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday when he was struck, the witness said.

About an hour after the accident, officers on bikes returned to the scene and said the man was unconscious in the ambulance to the hospital, but could not provide details on his condition.

The incident occurred at the all-way stop, where drivers can exit and enter Lake Shore Drive, police said. It also intersects with the lakefront trail used by cyclist, rollerbladers and runners.

One of the bike's wheels was seen laying near the path where the collision occurred.
