The Hyde Park Jazz Festival will mark its 10th year during the Sept. 24-25 weekend fest at venues throughout Hyde Park, and bands are already being booked.

The full lineup won’t be released until July, but so far the fest has booked the Joshua Abrams, Jeff Parker, Ari Brown and Gerald Cleaver Quartet, the Dee Alexander Quartet with Dwight Trible and others, with the Victor Goines Quartet closing out the fest on Sept. 25.

Randy Weston will celebrate his 90th birthday at this year’s festival with a performance Sept. 25 night at Rockefeller Chapel on the University of Chicago’s campus.

The Logan Center for the Arts has also commissioned a new piece from saxophonist Miguel Zenon, who will debut the 1-hour composition with the Spektral Quartet during the fest.

The festival is also bringing in visual artists for the first time through a partnership with the Hyde Park Art Center. Artists Juan Angel Chavez, Sabina Ott, and Jeremiah Hulsebos-Spofford and Faheem Majeed will all unveil new works on the Midway Plaisance.
