LINCOLN PARK — Drivers might want to avoid Clybourn Avenue this week.

The thoroughfare will be closed between Racine and Southport avenues all week beginning Monday for water main installation, according to the office of Ald. Brian Hopkins (2nd).

The closure will last from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. each day.

Traffic will be rerouted. Drivers traveling northbound on Clybourn Avenue will be instructed to go westbound on Cortland Avenue, northbound on Ashland Avenue and then back to Clybourn Avenue. Those traveling southbound on Clybourn Avenue will be instructed to take the reverse route.

There will also be an alternate detour for trucks due to size and weight restrictions on the Cortland Avenue bridge, according to Hopkins.

Last week, drivers rushing to get their emissions tested at a Bucktown facility caused a traffic nightmare in Lincoln Park.
