CHICAGO — Police will be conducting DUI roadside safety checks in Washington Heights Friday night, the department said Thursday.

Officers will be conducting the safety checks at the intersection of 100th and Halsted streets beginning 7 p.m. Friday and lasting until 3 a.m. that night, police said in a news release.

During the checks, officers will be slowing down traffic and stopping cars to check for alcohol impairment and other driving infractions, including driver's license violations, seat belt violations and unsafe driving violations.

Police conduct the safety checks in neighborhoods throughout the year.

A roadside check in the Calumet District at the intersection of 118th and Halsted streets over Memorial Day weekend netted two DUI arrests as well as 35 other driving infractions, police said.
