HYDE PARK — A University of Chicago student was punched and robbed early Tuesday morning, according to university police.

The University of Chicago Police Department issued an alert Tuesday morning after a student walking on 56th Street near University Avenue at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday was robbed by three men.

As the student was passing the three men on the sidewalk, one of them punched him, knocking the student to the ground. The men then took the student’s backpack and ran away east down 56th Street, according to university police.

The student declined medical attention, according to university police.
